History teaches us that it is impossible to appease aggressor, - Turchynov

NSDC secretary Oleksandr Turchynov believes that it is impossible to appease aggressor. It depends on the civilized world whether to wait for the aggressor's next step or to neutralize him.

Turchynov announced on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the NSDC.

"The world celebrates the Days of Remembrance and Reconciliation today and tomorrow. These are the days of remembrance and commemoration of all victims of the Second World War. More than 60 countries were involved in this terrible war; battles were fought on three continents; 80% of the population of the world took part in it. It is extremely difficult to count losses: according to various estimates, the Second World War killed about 55 million people, of which 14 million were Ukrainians," he said.

Turchynov reminded about the 1938 Sudetenland crisis when the European politicians gave Hitler a part of Czechoslovakia, covering it with a desire to save peace.... But instead all Europe drowned in blood. "History should teach us that it is impossible to appease the aggressor. By creating a conflict in Transnistria and Chechnya, the aggressor will go further - to Abkhazia, Georgia, and then to Ukraine. It depends on the civilized world whether to wait for the aggressor's next step or to neutralize him," Turchunov stressed.

Today, as more than seventy years ago, the spiritually indestructible Ukrainians defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity with arms. We have only one road - the road of unity and victory. We will walk it to the end with honor!" Turchynov concluded.
