Poroshenko named nobody but Lutsenko as prosecutor general candidate, - Parubii

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will agree on the appointment of prosecutor general next plenary week of May 10-13.

As reported by Censor.NET quoting Ukrainski Novyny, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrii Parubii said it in an interview with 5 Channel.

"I've talked to many people - leaders of factions and groups, experts - and we all arrived at the conclusion that this issue can not be postponed... So, I hope that as early as next plenary week, we will be able to put on the agenda and to consider the issues regarding amendments to the law on the public prosecutor's office and a candidate for the post of prosecutor general, offered by the president," he said.

Parubii also said he had talked this issue with President Petro Poroshenko and they discussed no other candidate for the post of prosecutor general except for chairman of the PPB faction in the Verkhovna Rada Yurii Lutsenko.

"Poroshenko named nobody but Lutsenko as prosecutor general candidate, and his key request to the parliament was to tackle this issue as quickly as possible," he added.

The speaker also stressed that he personally saw Lutsenko as the best possible candidate for the post.
