As noted, two years ago, a battle occurred near Semenivka village on the eastern outskirts of Sloviansk, in which terrorists for the first time used heavy weapons. During the battle, militants suffered heavy losses (more than 40 killed and over 200 wounded) and retreated to the Sloviansk industrial area. National guards and Alfa Spetsnaz suffered many times smaller losses (three killed and 17 wounded), which more than eloquently describes their fighting prowess.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and National Guard Commander Yurii Allerov presented awards to national guards who took part in the famous fighting.
"Today, I want to thank those fighters who stood firm then, no matter how hard it was. And it really was hard. I say it to young soldiers. We lacked combat means, and even helicopter support, which we called, arrived after 4 or 5 hours. And we did it. Honor and glory to our fallen comrades," Arsen Avakov noted.
Yurii Allerov, who personally led the battle, remembered the course of events and thanked his comrades-in-arms for their courage and bravery.
