 Court limited mass actions on Dumska square in Odesa on May 2

Odesa Regional Administrative Court limited the holding of mass actions on Dumska square in Odesa on May 2 at the suit of the Odesa City Council Executive Committee.

Press service of the court reported, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax Ukraina.

The Executive Committee demanded to prohibit meetings, rallies, and other peaceful actions from May 2 to May 10 for a number of public organizations and individuals.

In its lawsuit, the Executive Committee argues that direct incitement to violence, breach of peace, and destruction of public property were revealed in media and social networks. The message of an organizer of the action demonstrates that it would be directly related to the 2014 tragic events. The report also contains calls to implement a kind of repetition of the events, but on Dumska square in Odesa. In addition, one of the organizers informed about intentions to use special means during the rallies.

The court took into account that law enforcement authorities will be involved in Odesa on Kulykove field square as peaceful actions will be carried out there. So they might not be able to simultaneously provide protection of public order in various parts of the city.

Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov announced May 2nd the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the tragic events of May 2, 2014. In this regard, it is recommended to limit music and entertainment events in the city. Taking into account all the facts, the court satisfied the claim of the Executive Committee of the Odessa City Council partially and prohibited mass actions on Dumska square on May 2 for a number of public organizations and individuals.
