 Famous opera singer, People's Artist of Ukraine Dmytro Hnatiuk passed away

Today, April 29, Ukrainian opera singer, People's Artist of Ukraine Dmytro Hnatiuk died at 91.

This was announced by rector of the National Music Academy of Ukraine Volodymyr Rozhok, Censor.NET reports referring to Den newspaper.

Dmytro Hnatiuk was born on March 28, 1925 in the Chernivtsi region (Romanian territory at that time). Hnatiuk was the first performer of 1960s hits (legendary songs "Dva Koliory" and "Moi Kiev"). On the opera stage, he created original images of such characters as Ostap, Mykola ("Taras Bulba", "Natalka-Poltavka" by Lysenko), Petruchio ("The Taming of the Shrew" by Shabalin), Mazepa, Onehin ("Mazepa", "Yevgeny Onegin" by Tchaikovsky), Demon ("Demon" by Rubinstein), Figaro ("The Barber of Seville" by Rossini), Rigoletto ("Rigoletto" by Verdi) and others.
