Terrorists thwarted negotiations on freeing captives by Easter, - Iryna Herashchenko

Trying to ban Iryna Herashchenko from entering Belarus is a result of Kremlin's desire to distract the world from the release of captives.

This was announced by presidential envoy for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas, Ukraine's representative at the Minsk talks Iryna Herashchenko on her Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"Yes, I am really officially denied entry to Belarus. The FSB does not waste time... The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has received a strange letter from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus titled "In respect of Mrs Herashchenko". And it is not about "Mrs Herashchenko" but the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and official representative of Ukraine to the humanitarian subgroup," Herashchenko stressed.

She notes that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has sent a protest note, after which the Belarusian side gave her a 1-month permission to enter the country for taking part in the Minsk talks, valid until May 25.

"The Belarusian side has undertaken to provide a platform for peace negotiations. But it has failed to withstand the pressure of the Russian Federation, trying to influence the format of the Minsk group and squeeze out those who are clearly in position to protect the national interests of Ukraine. Moreover, these impostors, the representatives of the terrorist organizations "LPR/DPR", the so-called "speakers-ministers", representing militants and occupants, are dear guests both in Moscow and in Minsk (where they, by the way, enter with Ukrainian passports and not their republican pieces of paper)," Herashchenko stressed.

In addition, she recalls that banning the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and a representative of the talks from entering the country is a flagrant violation of paragraph 12 of the Minsk agreements, which guarantees the security of negotiators. This is a conscious destruction of the Minsk process.

"All these attempts to humiliate me by denying or letting me in is also a part of hybrid warfare, attempts to influence the negotiation process and thwart it. This is an attempt to divert attention from the key issue - the release of captives," Herashchenko concluded.
