Expert assessment recognized that Gen. Nazarov did not ensure IL-76 flight safety in occupied Luhansk in 2014, - lawyer

According to the conclusion of the commission that has carried out a complex military-tactical criminalistic examination, Chief of Anti-Terrorist Operation Staff Major General Viktor Nazarov was the one who was directly obliged to take measures to suppress the air defense of terrorists and ensure the safety of IL-76 flight over Luhansk controlled by the militants June 14, 2014.

Lawyer of deceased paratroopers' relatives Vitalii Pohosian wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"It took 1,518 hours for 13 experts to conduct the examination. The applicable law and the documents from the materials of the criminal case have been analyzed. However, he [Nazarov - ed.] has still not been removed from the post or placed in detention," he wrote.

"49 soldiers were killed. Compare him with soldiers who remain in custody for commission of weapons-related crimes and under trumped up charges as well as other articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. How many such servicemen are held in detention? Where is the logic?" the lawyer added.

IL-76 military transport aircraft with 40 paratroopers of the 25th Brigade and nine crew members on board departed to Luhansk controlled by terrorists on June 14, 2014 and was shot down on its way. All 49 people on board were killed.
