 Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland urges occupying authorities to lift ban on Mejlis

Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland calls on the occupying authorities to cancel the ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

Censor.NET reports referring to Council of Europe press service quoting Jagland's statement.

"I am very concerned by the decision taken today by the Court of Simferopol to declare the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People an "extremist organisation" and to ban it," the statement reads.

He called on the relevant authorities to take measures to reverse the decision as soon as possible.
