"I call on the president to urgently sent National Guard and extra police units to Odesa, preliminary provided with everything necessary, including food and a place to sleep. We'll also get involved, but they should be supported financially," he said.
"I also ask the president and the leadership of the Security Service to pay attention to separatists in Odesa as well as the Russian citizenship and loyalty to Russia of mayor Trukhanov and his business partners," the official added.
"I think this is the best moment for the state to show its determination and desire to protect Ukrainians," Saakashvili remarked.
