Political consensus on bills allowing a person without legal education and prosecutorial experience to be appointed prosecutor general has not been reached yet.

People's Front MP Anton Herashchenko said on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET correspondent reports.

"At the moment, there is no political decision on this issue (bill No. 4481 providing for appointing a candidate without legal education as prosecutor general and No. 4469 providing for appointing a candidate without prosecutorial experience as prosecutor general) and therefore they [bills - ed.] are not put to the vote. If consensus is reached during the break, the bills may be considered in the first reading," Herashchenko explained.

When asked to clarify whether this means a lack of votes to support the bill, Herashchenko said, "At this point, I don't see any consensus on voting for these bills inside PPB faction."

Speaking about possible appointment of a new prosecutor general, the MP said: "It will 100 percent happen as early as in May."
