 Pro-Russian terrorists shelled ATO forces' positions 23 times yesterday, mostly near Marinka, - Staff

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area is characterized as unstable.

Censor.NET reports citing the ATO press center's report as of 6 a.m. April 20, posted on Facebook.

According to the Staff, the total of 23 episodes of cease-fire violations by pro-Russian militants were recorded yesterday. 11 of them were conducted from Minsk-banned weapons.

It is also reported that hybrid armed gangs were active at Donetsk and Mariupol directions.

"Fire attacks from mortars of 120-mm caliber were conducted by invaders upon our strong points near Avdiivka and Butivka mine, from caliber of 82-mm - near Leninske, Opytne, Shyrokyne, Maiorsk, Berdianske, and Marinka.

"The highest number of shelling cases was conducted at Marinka direction, where militants were firing upon our defenders from mortars, large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers, and small arms. The total of six cases of shelling were recorded in this town.

"In order to oppose the enemy, the ATO forces had to open fire nine times in order not to allow the militants approaching closer at Sakhanka, Trudove, and Bezimenne directions," the message reads.
