Ukraine and Georgia should receive visa-free regime with EU by summer 2016, - Lithuanian Foreign Ministry

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius announced after the meeting of foreign ministers of the EU countries in Luxembourg that it would be incorrect to amend the agreement on visa-free regime for Ukraine and Georgia.

As reported by Censor.NET, he said this to BNS agency.

"We have promised our eastern partners to introduce visa-free regime if they fulfill all of their tasks, and we know that both countries had to make lots of efforts and work hard - and this has been done. If other parties are emerging that want to set different conditions now, we might say that's incorrect from both political and legal standpoints," Linkevičius said on Monday.

He hopes that visa-free regime with these countries will be implemented in early summer.

"Now we have to implement what we ourselves have decided. Many EU representatives have noted that, so I hope the process will go smoothly. This is an endless process, no one is perfect, but these states have fulfilled what they were asked to. Now it's our turn to make our job, and I hope that by summer they should receive the visa-free regime," he announced.
