"Russian Federation constantly conducts provocations; but it will get as brazen as it is allowed to," Turchynov said answering a question of Polish journalists about the incident of April 12, when Russian jets Su-24 approached U.S. Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea when a Polish helicopter was taking off the ship's deck.
Turchynov is certain that the Russian plane was flying over the military ships for a reason - it was demonstrating its 'readiness to strike.'
"Put yourself in the place of the military who were on the ship. It was extremely difficult to feel whether it was a training or a real attack," he said.
"Russia is indeed acting very brazen and conducts constant provocations. But it will get as brazen as it is allowed to," the NSDC Secretary noted, stressing that Russian jets stopped violating Turkish airspace.
