In order to de-escalate the situation, the Ukrainian government urges to resume the practice of "mirror patrolling” of Avdiivka area by the representatives of the OSCE SMM and Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC).

Since April 2 significant deterioration of the situation in Avdiivka area has been reported. The town is the hottest spot in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area. The militants fire at the ATO forces' positions in the vicinity of Avdiivka from banned large-caliber weapons, violating the Minsk agreements.

According to the Ukrainian representatives of the JCCC, the militants fired 584 shells (32 tank shells, 16 shells of 122-mm gun, 131 shells of 120-mm gun, and 405 shells of 82-mm) at Ukrainian soldiers near Avdiivka over the last week.

In general, the Avdiivka area was fired by the militants from heavy weapons for about 98 times during this week. One civilian was reported killed in the yesterday's attack.

Ukrainian side considers militants' attacks at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Avdiivka as a direct violation of the Minsk agreements, and calls for the resumption of the "mirror patrolling" of Avdiivka-Yasynuvata area. This will allow to control the situation and react to the violations of the cease-fire.
