The prisoners agreed to undergo a legal procedure of transferring sentenced persons from Russia to Ukraine, which may take up to a year. Such a procedure is stipulated by the European convention.

"We received a first response from the Russian Federation, noting that they agreed to consider our application, that they check all facts of the case, and will give us an answer as soon as they obtain certain information. We asked them to accelerate the consideration of these matters," Pietukhov said.

According to the procedure, the illegally sentenced Ukrainians agree with the verdict of Russian judges, while the recognition of guilt is out of question.
