“I feel former police officers’ revenge. Old judicial system will do everything to destroy police reform,” National Police Head Dekanoidze

Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze states that police reform may be reduced to zero by decisions of the courts on reinstatement of police officers who have failed recertification.

Dekanoidze said in an interview to journalists of Skhemy, a joint project of Radio Svoboda and UA:Pershyi TV channel, Censor.NET reports.

"I feel revenge of former police, those officers who have failed recertification. Almost all of them appealed to court. The courts hold numerous closed hearings and I am afraid that the old judicial system will do everything to destroy the reform of the police," she said.

The National Police head said that two court rulings to reinstate former police officers who have failed recertification had already been taken.

"However, there may be a greater number of such rulings soon because the courts started considering the appeals against decisions of Recertification Commissions just three weeks ago. People engaged in extortion, banditry, cannot come into themselves outside the police system. They strive to come back to keep doing this in the already reformed police," Dekanoidze added.
