Anti-Russian sanctions should be lifted only after Russia’s troops leave Crimea and Donbas, - Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that the international sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation may be lifted only after Russian troops leave the territory of the Donbas and Crimea.

He said answering the questions of foreign journalists at the Japan National Press Club in Tokyo on Wednesday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"My dream is that all the countries will support Ukraine and lift the sanctions only after Russia withdraws its troops, when there will be peace and stability in my country, and after the Russian troops leave Crimea," Poroshenko said.

According to the president, sanctions are closely related to fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by the Russian Federation.

"I have every confidence that Ukraine will be one of the main topics on the agenda of the G7 leaders' meeting. We are discussing, and they will as well discuss the efficient tools to motivate Russia to implement the Minsk agreements, to withdraw its troops and to restore Ukrainian sovereignty in the occupied territory. The sanctions are the tool," Poroshenko stressed.
