Pro-Russian gangs continued to strike Ukrainian defenders in the country's east, having delivered the total of 40 attacks over the day. It is worth noting that at this time yesterday, 35 attacks on anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces' positions had been recorded.

"In early morning, pro-Russian mercenaries started delivering massive various caliber mortar strikes against our positions near Avdiivka, at Donetsk direction. Moreover, the enemy employed grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms. For several hours, the situation at the Ukrainian army strong points was really tense. Terrorists also used Minsk-prohibited weapons in the vicinity of Luhanske, Zaitseve, and Opytne. It should be noted that militants fired large caliber mortars towards locals' homes from their positions near Mineralne.

"At the Mariupol direction, occupants used 82-mm mortars near Lebedynske, while Ukrainian soldiers' in Marinka, Novotroitske, and Vodiane came under grenade launcher, heavy machine gun, and small arms fire.

"To counter the enemy, Ukrainian soldiers opened fire in response seven times, defending their positions near Avdiivka and Lebedynske," the evening report notes.
