The leaders of several countries have reached an agreement that Batkivshchyna MP Nadiia Savchenko, sentenced in Russia to 22 years in prison, will soon return to Ukraine.

Batkivshchyna leader Yuliia Tymoshenko stated, Censor.NET reports referring to the party's press service.

"I have information that an agreement has been reached at the level of the U.S. president and the German chancellor, according to which, after the verdict comes into force, Nadiia will be either exchanged and returned to Ukraine or sent, as they say, to serve the sentence in the homeland," she said.

Tymoshenko also noted that due to Savchenko's status of deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, "the issue of her release was raised at the world's highest political level." "The struggle for Nadiia's liberation was joined by the leaders of international organizations, heads of major strongest world states, who closely watch the situation around the fate of Nadiia Savchenko," Tymoshenko remarked.

"Today, Nadiia is a symbol and an example of fighting for Ukraine," the politician added.
