The activity of the Russian-terrorist groups has increased dramatically in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area. The militants have violated cease-fire 61 times over the past day, which is twice as many as the day before.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as of 6 a.m. April 5.

According to the Staff, the Russian mercenaries carried out attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces using mortars of various calibers almost along the entire demarcation line: "The enemy committed four mortar strikes on the defenders of Avdiivka, three strikes in the direction of Novhorodske and two more ones on Zaitseve at the Donetsk section of the front."

The militants keep providing high-intensity fire along the front line using a variety of weapons simultaneously including mortars, large-caliber machine guns, and grenade launchers. Besides, the enemy snipers' attacks are also recorded.

"The enemy has also cranked up effort at the Mariupol section of the front employing weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements there. In particular, our positions near Talakivka were shelled with 120-mm mortars while 82-mm mortars were used near Shyrokyne.

The militants attempted to storm one of the ATO forces' positions at the same section of the front near Hranitne. The Ukrainian troops opened massed fire with machine guns and small arms to repulse the attack and prevent seizure of the stronghold by the enemy. These actions forced the subversive and reconnaissance group to retreat," the report reads.

It is noted that it was also not calm in the Luhansk region: "The enemy mortar strikes hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces' positions near Novozvanivka.

"The security situation in the Donbas deteriorates. The ATO forces are ready for drastic changes of the situation efficiently holding their defense lines," the Staff summed up.
