US to allocate $55 million to Ukraine for solid rocket propellant disposition

The U.S. will allocate $55 million to Ukraine for completion of final stage of the project to dispose of solid propellant of RS-22 intercontinental ballistic missiles at the facilities of the Pavlohrad chemical plant (the Dnipropetrovsk region).

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.

"State Space Agency Chairman Liubomyr Sabadosh met with Director of the Cooperative Threat Reduction Directorate for U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Dr. Elizabeth George March 31, 2016.

"2,707.5 tons of rocket propellant, which is 55% of the total quantity, is subject to disposition today. The United States reaffirmed readiness to provide financial assistance in the amount of $55 million for the implementation of this program before the end of 2018.

The waterjet-assisted mechanical cutting is used for disposition, as it is most environmentally friendly since the process is carried out in a closed circuit, without any emissions into the atmosphere, water or soil," the press service informed.
