 Russia to cancel gas discount for Ukraine effective April 1, - Minister of Energy Novak

Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that the "winter package" under which Ukraine received a discount on gas expires on March 31.

On April 1, Russia will cancel its discount on gas for Ukraine. This is announced in a statement of Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak on gas supplies to Ukraine in Q2 of 2016, Censor.NET reports referring to official website of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

"The discount on gas price for Ukraine in the amount of $17.77 expires on March 31, 2016. The final price of gas for Ukraine in Q1 was $212 per 1,000 cubic meters. The discount was stipulated within the framework of the so-called "winter package" agreed by Russia, Ukraine, and the EU. Starting from April 1 this year, the price of gas for Ukraine will fully comply with the current contract between Gazprom and Naftohaz Ukrainy," Novak said.
