Judicial immunity should not imply permissiveness, - SBU on actions of Odesa's grafter Buran

Odesa judge Oleksii Buran, who opened fire at NABU detectives during his detention, has directly violated the law.

Security Service Head of Staff Oleksandr Tkachuk said at a today's briefing, Censor.NET informs citing 112 Ukraine.

"There is an aspect connected with the personal safety of law enforcement officers. If a weapon is employed against them, it means that any status claimed by a person or immunity can not be exercised in such cases. Because the inviolability of both people's deputies and judges provides for immunity from wrong application of certain legal provisions, immunity from responsibility. But it does not imply permissiveness and it does not enable them to break the law and threaten the life of anyone, no matter if it is a law enforcement officer or not," Tkachuk said.

"I can not say specifically in this case, if it's allowed or not. I wasn't there and there can be loads of interpretations, details, and nuances as for how the situation unfolded," Tkachuk added.
