15 prosecutors have been served a notice of dismissal. This is done in order to paralyze the trial of "diamond prosecutors".
"He (Viktor Shokin - Ed.) is at work. We had a conversation and he said that he did not understand why I was doing this. I also have no idea, how the prosecutor general has sunk to such lows and started persecuting the rank-and-file investigators of the Prosecutor General's Office," Sakvarelidze told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday.
According to him, Viktor Shokin has not explained in a conversation why he dismisses these members of the Prosecutor General's Office. "He has said that he dismisses no one, but I have a clear evidence in my hands - notices of dismissal of our members," he added.
Deputy Prosecutor General also informed that all these investigators were ousted a month ago in order to "to paralyze the work of our directorate, paralyze the trial of "diamond prosecutors". The formal reason was organizational change in the agency. Shokin departed from his word, departed the word of prosecutor general, which he had given to me personally," Sakvarelidze said.
"According to our information, the warrants to conduct searches and wiretap all of us, all these guys, have already been obtained. And I would like to warn them: if a single hair upon the heads of our heroes will be harmed, we will fight for them to the last drop of blood," he assured.
According to Davit Sakvarelidze, a total of 15 prosecutors have been served a notice of dismissal.
