"All evidence to try and convict Kuchma of murder collected," - Butusov on Gongadze case investigation

All evidence necessary to prove involvement of Leonid Kuchma in the murder of journalist Heorhii Gongadze have been collected, while only political will is required to initiate the trial.

Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov said on air of Channel 24.

He also stressed that it was difficult to find another crime in which the assassin's paymaster had been so clearly exposed by existing facts.

According to Butusov, Kuchma's guilt is proven by the international expert review of the Major Melnichenko's recordings, which authenticity has also been confirmed by the FBI. He said that it was necessary to make domestic expert review of the recordings so that they could be used as evidence as well as initiate trial with participation of all persons involved in the recordings to confirm their authenticity.

"The fact that the Prosecutor General's Office does not recognize the recordings as evidence in the case is actually the gravest crime. To great embarrassment of current president, the non-adduction of Melnichenko recordings casts a shadow over Poroshenko as he is involved in these recordings as well. And one may get the impression that Poroshenko does not authorize the trial so that his conversations with Kuchma would not be attached to a dossier of some case," the journalist said.
