Savchenko's lawyer Mark Feygin stated after the court hearing, Censor.NET correspondent reports from Donetsk, the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
"If there was no public campaign in support of Savchenko, which was held not only in Ukraine but in many other countries as well, Savchenko would now be escorted to the colony. But Savchenko will not serve this sentence thanks to this support. I guarantee it," Feygin said.
"Savchenko will definitely be released due to a deep concern, which will be expressed in the statements of governments, heads of states, international organizations," he added.
Feygin also said that he held Savchenko guiltless.
"The defense has provided all the proofs of her innocence over seven months," the lawyer said.
The lawyers reiterated that they did not intend to lodge an appeal.
