The test firing was attended by National Security and Defense Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, who directly coordinates the implementation of the national missile programs.

According to Turchynov, the restoration of the missile shield is "one of our country's defense and security priorities," Censor.NET reports citing NSDC press service.

"Our defense industry complex, scientists and designers were tasked with ensuring the production of Ukrainian missiles without using a single Russian-produced part," he said, adding that "the defense industry and scientists have properly completed this task."

"We started to test-fire Ukrainian-made missiles, and today's launch showed that our rocket had fully met our expectations and hit the intended target," Oleksandr Turchynov said, stressing that unlike its Russian analogue, Ukrainian missile is guided, "which can significantly add to its performance."

According to him, this is not the only missile program developed in Ukraine.

"We are currently working on a number of powerful and efficient missiles that will reliably protect our country," Turchynov said.

After successful tests, the NSDC secretary held a meeting with leading designers and defense industry complex executives on the refinement of testing and mass production plan.
