"The court held to dismiss the appeal of the SBU investigator to impose a pretrial restriction as the term of its consideration has expired," investigating judge Yurii Kovbasa resolved.
Hearing the case, the judge also took into account the petition of lawyer Denys Bezruchenko, who insisted that the statutory 72-hour term for the pretrial restriction imposition had expired.
"In this case, he should be released from custody," Bezruchenko stated.
According to the agency, Shevtsov, whom the ambulance crew had provided medical care to a few minutes earlier, quickly left the courtroom, sat in a black SUV waiting for him outside, and departed.
