Judge Andrii Trubnikov explained his decision by the fact that Prosecutor Petro Fitsai had not provided evidence of risks making impossible stay of the accused beyond the detention center, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
Although the judge admitted that Kalynovskyi had been on the wanted list since 2007, which may indicate his future evasion of cooperation with the judicial investigation. However, according to Trubnikov, this argument alone and the severity of the crime, which Serhii Kalynovskyi had been charged with, were insufficient to place him in detention.
Therefore, the judge imposed another pretrial restriction against Kalynovskyi - a 24/7 house arrest until May 18.
The prosecutor and the accused have refused to comment on the court decision. Judge Trubnikov said that the hearing of the case on the merits of Kalynovskyi was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. March 28.
