Minister Demchyshyn denies hike in gas price for population from April 1

Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn says the government did not take any decision about raising gas price for the population from April 1.

This was announced at today's session of the Verkhovna Rada, BusinessCensor reports.

"At present, there is no government decision on changing gas price from April 1," - Demchyshyn said.

The minister noted an agreement with the IMF had been reached on raising the price of gas up to 75 per cent of the import price. "Today, this rate makes UAH 5,500 (approx. $205)," Demchyshyn stated.

"There is no reason to say it will happen on April 1, like many journalists and you [Radical Party leader Liashko - ed.] do," the minister said.
