U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council Samantha Power said March 17 during a speech at an event on the second anniversary of Russia's annexation of of the peninsula, Censor.NET reports citing U.S. mission press service.
"The passage of time does not change the facts; Crimea was, is, and must and will remain part of sovereign Ukraine," Power stated.
She noted that the "occupation authorities have committed serious and widespread abuses targeting members of ethnic and religious minorities."
"It is not only Tatars who are being targeted in Crimea - it is a wide range of critics of Russia's actions," U.S. representative to the UN said.
