 President of European People's Party Joseph Daul urges EU to provide visa-free regime to Ukraine

Joseph Daul urged the countries-members of the European People's Party to support the decision on visa liberalization with Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with President of the European People's Party Joseph Daul in the course of the visit to Brussels, Censor.NET reports citing the press office of the president.

In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in Donbas and Russia's deliberate disregard for its obligations under the Minsk agreements.

The parties agreed on the importance of preserving unity of the EU in the issue of sanctions against Russia until full restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity. The head of state emphasized the importance of countering Russian propaganda in the European countries.

Petro Poroshenko and Joseph Daul expressed deep concern over the illegal imprisonment of Ukrainians in Russia.

The president of the European People's Party noted that his party would comprehensively support Ukraine and facilitate the increase of international pressure on Russian authorities for immediate liberation of Ukrainian citizens, particularly Nadiia Savchenko and Oleh Sentsov.

Joseph Daul urged the countries-members of the European People's Party to support the decision on visa liberalization with Ukraine, for it has fulfilled all the necessary criteria.

The parties discussed the course of Ukrainian reforms and formation of a new government focused on continuation of reforms under the Association Agreement.
