The elected members of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Ukraine (NAPC) failed to elect a chairman on Thursday.

Representative of the Commission for Selection of NACP Members Viktor Taran wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"The story with the NACP continues. Today, after two hours of discussions, the elected agency officials had been unable to choose a chairman among themselves and took a break. On Wednesday, the Commission for Selection of NACP Members successfully selected two members of this agency. Thus, the NACP has four of the five required members, which makes it possible to launch operation of the National Agency. We search for the candidate for the fifth position as MP Viktor Chumak refused to work in the agency, thus vacating it," Taran wrote.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko informed the EU representatives during his visit to Brussels on Thursday that the minimum number of NAPC members had been elected. However, it is worth noting that according to the sixth report on the implementation of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan requirements by Ukraine, it is not enough to just elect NACP leaders, the agency should also be fully operational.
