As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) press center in its report as of 6 a.m. March 17, posted on Facebook.
According to the staff, 52 cases of shelling were reported yesterday: 39 cases at the Donetsk direction, 11 at the Mariupol direction, and two at the Luhansk direction.
"Strong points at Zaitseve and Avdiivka were fired upon the most by mercenaries, with the use of all kinds of weapons, including Minsk-banned mortars of 120-mm and 82-mm caliber, firing more than 130 missiles," the message reads.
It is also reported that Russian mercenaries were shelling strong points near Popasna and Troitske with antitank guided missile launchers, and with IFV near Luhansk and three times near Avdiivka.
"The enemy shelled our positions in Novhorodske and Maiorsk from grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns. At the Mariupol direction, Russian mercenaries were firing upon Shyrokyne defenders from 82-mm caliber mortars, antitank guided missile launchers, and small arms. Enemy snipers were shelling ATO forces' positions near Nevelske, Marinka, and Krasnohorivka.
"At 7:45 p.m. near ATO forces' positions in Popasna area, a sabotage and recon group of the enemy of 10 people attempted a penetration into our territory rear, but was noticed by a scout. Having opened fire for effect, Ukrainian soldiers made the mercenaries retreat," the staff noted and added that after midnight the shelling stopped.
