 President of Slovakia calls on Russia to release Savchenko

President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska urges the Russian authorities to release Ukrainian pilot Nadiia Savchenko.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement posted on the website of the President of the Slovak Republic via UNIAN.

"Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Nadiia Savchenko has spent more than 600 days in a Russian prison. She was abducted from the territory of Ukraine and tried in violation of international law, principles of human rights and principles of humanity. Her imprisonment in Russia also violates the Minsk agreements aimed at the peaceful settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine," the statement reads.

President of Slovakia notes that Savchenko's health is deteriorating, and she is fighting for her life these days, but her courage can leave no one indifferent.

"I am convinced that Savchenko should be immediately released so that she will be able to return to Ukraine, to her near and dear ones," Andrej Kiska said.
