 Poroshenko instructed Defense Ministry to launch Special Operation Forces until 2018

President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to complete the creation of the Special Operation Forces until 2018.

This is stipulated by the Security and Defense Sector Development Concept approved by a presidential decree of March 14, Censor.NET reports referring to Ukrainski Novyny.

According to the document, the MoD at the first stage of the reform (until the end of 2017) must ensure the establishment of the Special Operation Forces as a separate kind of troops.

Also, new functional structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to be set up during this period (immediate reaction forces, augmentation forces, reserve forces).

The creation of cyber security and cyber defense units is to be accomplished by 2018.

In addition, the MoD at the first stage is instructed to create an effective system of mobilization and mobilization training, including the relevant quantity of draft offices and employees as well as a unified state register of military reservists.

During the second stage (until the end of 2020), the military control bodies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are to be transformed by the example of the NATO's J-structure.

As reported, in order to counter the aggressive foreign policy of Russia and neutralize the enemy's efforts in the hybrid war, the National Security and Defense Council in May 2015 decided to set up the Special Operation Forces.
