Logistics failed to provide hot meals and boards, - Matios on troops' welfare at Shyrokyi Lan training ground

A failure to organize the daily life of soldiers at the Shyrokyi Lan training ground in the Mykolaiv region was caused by the negligence and indifference of the command.

Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios said in an interview with Sehodnia, Censor.NET reports.

"The problem was as follows: the logistics failed to provide hot meals and just 20 cubic meters of boards so that people could escape the impassable swamp. They decided that the soldiers would endure everything!" he said. "After we instituted criminal proceedings and inspected the site, field kitchens, tents, and other things arrived as early as the next morning," the official added.

"The incident was due to the negligence and indifference of the command to the fate of people... At the moment, eight officials have been put in the guardhouse for a period of 5 to 10 days, including a Skhid Operations Command deputy commander and the brigade commander. On March 14, we expect the court to take decisions on two more officers, including the deputy commander for combat training. Senior officers are subject to arrest and temporary imprisonment by a court decision," Matios said.
