In March 2014, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov was planning to visit the Crimea to stop the occupation of the peninsula. At that moment Russia was ready to bring down the plane of the head of the neighboring state. Representatives of the Russian Federation warned Turchynov that he "won’t reach Simferopol".

Member of the Security Council, presidential envoy in the 'Crimean Federal District' Oleh Belaventsev told Russian NTV TV Channel, Censor.NET reports.

"He was going to fly here (in the Crimea) with two planes: one with Turchynov and another with the Special Forces unit. But we have decided with no pressure, if he cross the border, we will bring him down," Belavenetsev said.

Russian official has also accused Turchynov of "unleashing a civil war in the Crimea", "sending to the peninsula emissaries who tried to persuade the Crimean leaders, including the chairman of the Supreme Council, not to fulfill their duties", and "threaten the MPs with sms".
