Oil companies associated with ill-famed oligarch Kurchenko searched, - Sakvarelidze

Deputy Prosecutor General and Prosecutor of the Odesa region Davit Sakvarelidze says law enforcers have searched the companies owned by infamous oligarch Serhii Kurchenko.

Censor.NET reports referring to Sakvarelidze's Facebook page.

"It is my duty to inform the public not only about our opponents' favorite "diamond" prosecutors case but also about other, in our opinion, important criminal cases.

"One of them is the case of oil stolen by Kurchenko, recovered from the depths of the PGO. At the moment, Odesa region prosecutors and police are carrying out searches of the offices and apartments of both former and current executives and founders of Ukrtransnaftoprodukt SE as well as of four other associated businesses in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Korosten, Mykolaiv, and Kherson.

"Also, at our request, the court has seized more than UAH 100 million (approx. $3.76 million) derived from trading these oil products.

"Yesterday, law enforcers acquainted the representatives of the above enterprise and a bank with the court's decision ordering them to transfer these funds to the account of the National Police Main Department in the Odessa region within several days.

"We have a good reason to believe that these funds have been stolen. The company does not have them and actually can't have.

"Although, I would really like to believe in the contrary. The investigation will tell," he wrote.
