Russian proxies committed 43 assaults yesterday, attacked Ukrainian observation point near Triokhizbenka, - ATO press center

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone remains tense.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO press center as of 6 a.m. March 9.

According to the latest update, the Russian mercenaries continued assaulting positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past day. 43 attacks were recorded yesterday, including 37 at the Donetsk direction and five more at the section of the front near Mariupol.

"The militants continue shelling our positions using weapons banned by the Minsk agreements. The Kremlin terrorists have committed 12 mortar strikes on the strong points near Opytne, Avdiivka, Luhanske, and Zaitseve. The defenders of Butivka mine and 'Zenit' position came under mortar shelling as well.

"The enemy fired at our soldiers in the vicinity of Luhanske with IFV gun. The Russian terrorists attacked the ATO forces' fortified positions on the outskirts of Pisky, Myronivka, Novhorodske, Troitske, Krasnohorivka, Maiorsk, and Verkhniotoretske with small arms, machine guns, and grenade launchers of various systems," the report reads.

"The number of attacks committed by the militants increased at the Mariupol direction not far from Shyrokyne, Starohnativka, and Marinka.

"The enemy subversive and reconnaissance group approached the Ukrainian Armed Forces' observation point near Triokhizbenka in the Luhansk region within 200 meters and opened fire with small arms at around 7 p.m. The defenders of the observation point opened fire in return. The enemy ceased fire and retreated to the opposite bank of the river at 7:35 p.m. Our troops incurred no losses," the ATO staff noted.
