The militants backed by Russia opened fire from banned 122-mm weapon near Avdiivka on March 6, at 9:15 a.m.

Censor.NET reports citing the ATO press center.

According to the report, a sabotage and reconnaissance unit of Russian mercenaries came closer to Ukrainian positions after the attack.

"As it turned out, the terrorists aimed to discredit the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces. Thus, the militants fired at their positions, as well as civilian transport in order to blame Ukrainian army. Russian media has arrived immediately at the scene," the report reads.

"Obviously, the terrorists do not want to observe the truce and withdraw the banned weapons from the front line. They understand that militants' activities will become senseless and many of the pro-Russian terrorists become unemployed if peace comes to the Donbas. And they are ready to kill civilians and Ukrainian soldiers for their bloody work," the press center stressed.
