According to the released information, Oleksandr Turchynov, who chaired the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at that time, was the only supporter of martial law imposition in Ukraine during the NSDC meeting, Censor.NET reports.
"I think that the Russian aggression in Crimea may turn into a full-scale war. We must be ready for this regardless of all problems. … Taking into account the combat readiness of the Russian troops deployed at our eastern borders, we must do our best to defend ourselves. The Russians will only reckon with force. … We need to announce complete mobilization in the country, start redeploying available troops from central and western parts of the country to its southern and eastern regions. This is vital. That's why I can't help putting imposition of martial law to vote," Turchynov said.
He was the only one who voted for martial law imposition. Thus, the decision on the introduction of martial law in the country was not taken.
