There were Russian snipers on Maidan – Parubii

Russia was trying to maximize the confrontation on Maidan square during the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine.

First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, former National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Рead of Maidan Self Defense Andrii Parubii announced, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraina.

"Russia's Federal Security Service tried to maximize the confrontation and exaggerate the conflict on Maidan square," he said in an interview.

Parubii is sure that Russian snipers were present on Maidan. "Our informants told us about a group of Russian snipers during the Maidan protests. They took positions under protection of the SBU," he said.

On Feb. 18, 2014, 1,500 Kalashnikov rifles were handed both to police officers and members of the organized crime groups "to shoot at Maidan activists," he said.
