Lawyer of policeman, who shot dead chased car passenger, requests to place defendant under house arrest as pre-trial restriction

The defense of patrol police officer Serhii Oliinyk, suspected of the murder of the 17-year-old passenger of BMW during its pursuit in Kyiv on the night of Feb. 7, has appealed to the Pechersk district court to place him under house arrest with electronic ankle tracking device as a pre-trial restriction.

The lawyer of the suspect said in the course of the court hearing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

According to the lawyer, the case against Oliinyk has political connotations aimed to harm the National Police leadership.

At the same time, the prosecution insists on taking Oliinyk into custody.
