There can be no political debate regarding "visa-free" laws adoption, Yatseniuk says

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must adopt laws necessary for the introduction of visa-free regime with the European Union Thursday, Feb. 18.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17, Censor.NET reports citing the government portal.

"There can be no political debate. This is what Ukrainians fought for on the Maidan. It is our European dream. And the real step towards achieving the European dream is the introduction of a visa-free regime," he stressed.

He recalled that the government had prepared the necessary draft laws. The president has submitted these laws to the parliament.

Yatseniuk also stressed that amendments countering European Union directives were made to the laws when they were voted in parliament in the first version several weeks ago.

"Therefore it is necessary now to return to the version submitted to the parliament. And positive votes are required tomorrow. Anyone, who votes for the laws on the introduction of visa-free regime in Ukraine actually represents the pro-European democratic forces," he stressed.

"It is high time to remove the artificial political hysteria, stop racing for power, and join efforts in a real struggle for the successful country," Yatseniuk said.
