Disclosure of text messages insufficient to dispose of person in democratic country, - MP Lutsenko on Abromavicius-Kononenko conflict

If Kononenko’s involvement in corrupt practices is confirmed by initiation of criminal case into particular facts, he will leave the elected office and will have to answer in law like any citizen.

Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Head Yurii Lutsenko said on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET parliamentary correspondent reports.

He said: "I am against the extrajudicial execution. It is impossible in a democratic country, when someone showed someone else's text messages and at the same time accused Kononenko, and that would be enough to dispose of a person."

Lutsenko stressed: "Our position is transparent: Kononenko did everything possible - he appealed to NABU (National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine - Ed.), he agreed to pass a lie-detector test, he agreed to undergo cross-questioning, and agreed to be held accountable, if his corrupt activities were confirmed. This is the position of the faction."

"If a criminal case is initiated into specific corrupt practices involving Kononenko, which have been established and not just declared, he will leave the elected office and will have to answer in law like any citizen," Poroshenko Bloc faction head concluded.
