Ukraine may sue Gazprom for $23 billion by late 2016, - Ukraine’s PM

Ukraine may sue the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom for $14.5 billion under the gas sale agreement and another $8.2 billion under the transit contract before the end of the year.

Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk said when delivering the annual government report to lawmakers, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Ukraine began litigation against the Russian Gazprom under two contracts last year. The first one is the sale and purchase contract. Ukraine sues for $14.5 billion. The second one is the transit contract, under which Ukraine seeks $8.2 billion from the Russian Gazprom," Yatseniuk said.

"I expect the Stockholm Arbitration to make relevant decisions in our favor by the end of this year as our stance is right," the PM added.
