"The perfect situation for us is to have no IMF here at all. In Georgia, we ceased cooperation with the IMF in a year. They have gone, and good riddance!" he said on the air of Radio Era on Monday.

It appears to the governor that the IMF is constantly monitoring the actions of the government, impinging them.

"The IMF is like a surgeon. When you need your finger to be bind up, he says: "Binding up is useless. Let's cut off the entire limb. Why bother? We will not take risks"," Saakashvili said.

Later, Mikheil Saakashvili wrote on Facebook: "The news agencies have apparently misrepresented my words. If I have to choose between absolutely uncontrollable local kleptocrats and supervision of the IMF, I will definitely choose the IMF. But one must strive to get rid of the kleptocratic authorities, strive for the economy growth, and then there will be no need in IMF programs," Saakashvili wrote.
