 Court sanctions in absentia proceedings against former Vice Prime Minister Arbuzov, - MP Nayyem

The Pechersk district court of Kyiv has authorized the Prosecutor General's Office to institute special proceedings against former First Vice Prime Minister and former Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Serhii Arbuzov.

Poroshenko Bloc MP Mustafa Nayyem wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Judge of the Pechersk district court of Kyiv Volodymyr Karaban has granted PGO's request to allow instituting special proceedings against former First Vice Prime Minister Serhii Arbuzov. In fact, it enables convicting and sentencing him in absentia," he wrote.

The MP recalled it was the third decision sanctioning in absentia proceedings against the Yanukovych-era fugitive officials.

Earlier, the Pechersk district court of Kyiv authorized initiating similar proceedings against former Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova and former Deputy Minister of Incomes and Fees Andrii Ihnatov.

As previously reported, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Pechersk district court accused Arbuzov's defense of delaying his conviction in absentia.
