 Third of single mothers will no longer receive welfare assistance, – Social Policy Minister

After verification of benefits for single mothers, only 400 thousand women will receive enhanced welfare assistance compared to 600 thousand who receive it at the moment.

Social Policy Minister Pavlo Rozenko said in an interview to ZN.UA, Censor.NET reports.

"A difficult process of verification of benefits for single mothers is in progress. 600 thousand women received the assistance before. Now they are being re-registered. According to our estimates, about 400 thousand women will receive enhanced assistance in the future," he said.

The official asked 'not to panic' on the issue. According to him, three months are required to reform the system of granting aid to single mothers depending on the family income. The women will get the assistance in full starting from Jan. 1, in hindsight.
